Groundwater Sampling

Groundwater Sampling

AquAeTer was retained by its client, an Alaska Native Corporation, to conduct groundwater sampling at sites of historic groundwater contamination at this active US Army base in interior Alaska, south of Fairbanks. Monitored sites included former landfill, fuel tank, and pipeline spill locations where groundwater impacts to deep glacial drift groundwater beneath permafrost were known or suspected. AquAeTer personnel also trained Native Corporation personnel in groundwater sampling, recordkeeping and sample management procedures consistent with the site-specific protocols mandated by the US Army and Alaska DEC.

AquAeTer provided the following services to its client for this sampling and reporting project:

  • Preparation for work at remote, high security location
  • Coordination with military and government contractor representatives
  • Training sampling personnel
  • Well condition inspection and groundwater level measurements
  • Groundwater sampling using low-flow methods
  • Management of sample from remote site
  • IDW management
